DiGi Challenge for Change - The Top 5 Winners!

We would like to take this opportunity to congratulate our own BSc.(Hons) in Computing Studies, Northumbria University student, Low Chin Leong crowned as Top 5 Winners of the ideation phase of DiGi Challenge for Change on 21 February 2013.  The top 5 winners walked away RM5000 and Android mobile device worth RM2000 by beating 2000 participants from various universities nationwide, NGOs, app developers and the general public

MNCC Computing Challenge 2012 - CHAMPIONS OF KDU PENANG!

We would like to take this opportunity to congratulate our own Diploma in Computer Studies (IT Department) students, Danaraj Ram Kumar and Vincent Hing crowned as CHAMPION of Computing Challenge 2012 organized by MNCC and MSC Malaysia which was jointly hosted by Taylor’s School of Computing & IT on 20 October 2012. The Champion walked away RM1000 by beating participants from various universities nationwide, Taylor’s University, UTAR, TARC, Stamford College, Universiti Tun Hussein Oon Malaysia & Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka.

Resoft Synergy Talk on 12 March 2012

KDU, in collaboration with Resoft Synergy, recently organized a career talk for its School of Engineering, Science and Technology students on 12 Mar 2012.   About 30 students from Engineering and IT programmes attended the talk.  Mr. Stephen Yong, Resoft Synergy Business Development & Outsourcing Manager,  briefed the students present on the top 10 things to know before entering the workforce.  The students were briefed on issues such as character & attitude in work, job opportunities, expected salary range for different positions, employer expectations, resume/CV preparation,  and interview and time management tips. This allowed the students to have a good picture of what they can expect when they step into the working world.

"Are you ready to be hired?" talk by JobStreet

KDU, in collaboration with Jobstreet, recently organized a career talk for its School of Engineering, Science and Technology students on 06 March 2012. Ninety-nine IT and Engineering students participated in the talk where Ms Kay, Jobstreet Regional Sales Manager, provided the students with an overview of the job market and the currents trends within the market. Among them included the number of job ads that were targeted towards fresh graduates or offered entry level positions suitable for graduates over the past year. She provided important tips on how to prepare a good resume that will allow the applicant to stand out and be considered for an interview by a potential employer. Besides that, she also spent time explaining how to hunt for the right job and how to prepare for an interview. Finally, she closed by highlighting to the students present the reasons why some employers are unwilling to hire fresh graduates and advised them to note the reasons and avoid the same pitfalls that might prevent them from getting the job they want. The students found the tips provided to be very useful and helpful in guiding them in their future job hunt.
