About Us


The Information Technology (IT) Department was set up in line with the nation's desire to achieve developed nation statues by 2020. One of the earlier divisions of KDU, the IT Department was set up to enable students to take advantage of the inevitable, constantly increasing demand for top caliber professionals in the IT industry, thereby meeting the manpower needs for skilled IT personnel in the industry.

KDU College's IT Department endeavours to address the need for strongly skilled Information and Communication Technology (ICT) graduates by offering diploma and degree courses, backed by academically qualified, experienced and dedicated teaching staff and comprehensive computing facilities. The diploma and degree programmes are recognized and accredited by the Malaysian National accreditation Board (Lembaga Akreditasi Negara) and students are eligible to apply for the PTPTN loan. Upon completion of the Diploma in Computer Studies programme and Games Technologies, students can proceed to do BSc. (Hons) in Computing Studies (University of Northumbria, UK) at KDU College, Penang. The degree programme is designed to equip students with a broad and deep knowledge of their chosen discipline and the competencies that are necessary for their personal advancement in their scholarly, professional or creative careers.

The study of computing and information technology opens up a wide variety of challenging and interesting career opportunities. Computing and information technology plays an important role in most areas of commerce, industry and government where an extensive range of computer applications is found. Graduates of KDU are usually employed in a range of professional jobs in Multinationals and Small-Medium Industries where they are involved in developing, supporting and utilizing leading edge ICT and Information Systems development methods, tools and techniques. Careers in the computing and technology fields which are sought after by computing graduates includes programmers, system analysts, software engineers, system implementers, system administrators, database administrators, network managers, multimedia resource managers, website designers, graphics & animation designers, Graduates enter the industry as computer marketing personnel, EDP personnel, IT managers and entrepreneurs.

Through the steady flow of its graduates into the community, the IT Department strives to assist the society to meet its need for educated individuals who are willing to be of service to others. The department also continue to produce graduates who can face not just today's challenges, but also be able to tackle the progressive future with confidence and innovation.
